I have to tell you I've never had any hamburger helper at all. I was looking for a recipe for basis beef stroganoff that didn't include canned soup or packaged gravy mixes. I had all the ingredients for your recipe and so gave it a whirl. It is delicious! I may halve the recipe side by side fourth dimension as I live lonely, merely I will apply all the mushrooms!

In addition I added dried onion soup to the hamburger while browning it was succulent! Thank you! I don't know if I'll buy store bought once more!

I besides grew up eating HH, and my fav was always the stroganoff. As an adult, I discovered I was allergic to dairy so I stopped eating all kinds of tasty things until I learned to be dauntless and endeavor substituting. I have been using the recipe for a while at present and I but wanted to let everyone know that it is just as wonderful made dairy free. I apply Almond Milk (unsweetened, plainly) in place of milk and I use Tofutti'due south Sour Supreme in identify of sour foam. Information technology's still completely delicious and creamy and wonderful. Thanks for the dandy recipe!
Ashley October thirteen, 2014 - x:02 am
I love beloved love Hamburger Helper Stroganoff just am trying to eat organic and homemade. I was so excited to see this recipe and with the Improve than Beef Bouillon Base so I wouldn't have to adapt the recipe to apply this instead of regular bouillon which I tend to not have on mitt. This recipe was absolutely perfect fifty-fifty though I used almond milk. I can't wait to make this for my kids (away at college), they don't usually like homemade versions of old favorites but I think they'll like this i!

Lexi July 27, 2014 - 10:24 am
YES! I have a soft spot for HH beef stroganoff but my husband abhors anything that comes from a box. This was spot on in terms of flavor for me and sans box made it hubby friendly. My ii.five yr quondam likewise polished her bowl.
The only matter I did differently was to add together a full 14.5oz can of beef goop since I used 12 oz of noodles and not viii (that's what I had on hand). I did upwardly the spices as well to recoup for the additional liquid. This is definitely going into the recipe rotation – thanks for sharing!
John B July 11, 2014 - 1:02 am

Peachy recipe!!! I just made it and it was delicious!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Krystal October 23, 2013 - 2:29 pm
This was delicious! Tastes almost identical to HH. I love that it only has about a tertiary of the sodium that HH does and that is adjustable, depending on if yous use stock, water or bouillon. I used Campbell'due south "Simply Stock" beef stock. My married man loved this as well and he isn't a big fan of HH. I am the salt box junkie in the business firm.
This was no more than difficult to put together than a box of HH. I put everything together in a large measuring loving cup (I liquified the cornstarch before adding information technology) then composite it with my paw mixer for a 2d to unclump the paprika and pepper.
Thanks for the recipe! Dear it!
FarmgirlGourmet October 23, 2013 - 2:43 pm

Krystal July seven, 2014 - 4:37 pm
I made this again for dinner tonight using chicken broth instead of beef and I added about 1/4 tsp of onion powder… It was even better. The onion powder but gave it that little actress something., Definitely recommend trying it.
I was out of beef broth so I was happy to find that chicken worked only as well.
Bradley Sugg Apr ten, 2014 - 3:28 pm
To reduce sodium further, use Herb Ox sodium free broth mix.
Megan October 2, 2013 - nine:11 am
In the photo next to the one with the ground beef, is that the Improve Than Bouillon Beef mixed with water or something else? Did you add that ingredient plus the beef broth?
FarmgirlGourmet Oct 3, 2013 - x:21 am
I apply ameliorate than burgoo to make beef broth. Y'all can use premade beef stock, BTB or any type of broth you similar. I only like using BTB because I can control the strength. Promise that helps. 🙂
maria September 29, 2013 - 6:37 pm

Katie March five, 2013 - 10:20 am
I didn't see where to put the milk so I whisked the milk, flour and I used fage instead of sour foam, together.
